FAQs

  • Is there room for growth?

    Absolutely. One of the coolest things about working here is it’s small enough to actually see the difference you make in the company. But it’s also growing enough so that you can continue to advance in your career.

  • What’s the management style like?

    Micromanagement doesn’t exist here. The reason we hire new people is because you can do cool stuff we can’t. So it only makes sense to give everyone a voice and let you do what we hired you for.

  • What do you actually do?

    Our job is to create content and tools to help architects and designers succeed in a career they love. We develop exam prep, design tutorials, podcasts, and other resources to help professionals keep pace with new technologies, software and career development. To us, there’s no better feeling than to help shape the careers of those who will, quite literally, help shape the world around us.

  • I don’t have any experience in architecture and design. Does that matter?

    Not at all. Just because you may not have experience in Architecture & Design doesn’t mean you can’t use your skills to develop or manage some seriously awesome tools and projects.

  • And how about the people?

    There’s nothing typical about us weirdos, but we all have a few things in common. We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We’re smart, but no one’s a smart-ass. We all work towards a collective goal; one person’s success is another’s success. You’ll never hear anyone say, “that’s not my job.”

  • What’s it like there?

    So much about life is putting up a facade and pretending to be someone you think you’re supposed to be. The heck with that. This is a place where you can be yourself — truly yourself. You know that feeling when you return home from a long day of work and you just exhale? That’s kind of what it feels like to walk into Black Spectacles.
